In this section, we regularly present the House of Training’s partners.
Today, meet Prof Dr David Veredas, Professor of Finance, Vlerick Business School.
Prof Dr Veredas, can you present the Vlerick Business School in a few words?
Vlerick Business School is a triple-accredited, international business school at the heart of Europe – ranked number one in the Benelux for executive education and 19 in Europe by Financial Times.
We have specific expertise in Financial Services, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Healthcare & Energy. Apart from our close ties to KU Leuven and Ghent University – and our strategic alliances with top business schools and universities in China, South Africa and India – we’re constantly building our network of corporate partners across the world.
Within our specialisation in financial services, we developed an executive programme in Asset Management in 2018 in collaboration with important market players in Belgium, such as Candriam and Degroof Petercam Asset Management. In 2020, we also set up a Centre for Sustainable Finance, through which we aim to contribute to this increasingly important domain through research and training initiatives.
Can you tell us more about the Executive Programme on Asset Management and its key features? How does it stand out from other programmes in this area?
The executive programme stands out through its holistic approach of the asset management function and providing insights into how it works in practice through a balanced mix of academics and business experts that contribute to this programme. In close collaboration with the House of Training and Alrim, we developed a version of the programme that is adjusted to the specific characteristics of the Luxembourg market. This means that in the 6-day programme, we will devote specific attention to topics such as real estate, infrastructure and private equity. Furthermore, House of Training and Alrim provided us access to some local specialists that will contribute in teaching certain parts of the programme, increasing the Luxembourg flavour of this learning journey.
In 6 days, split over 2 modules, participants get a 360° overview of the asset management activity and the ecosystem in which it operates. At the same time, participants establish a network of peers within the industry and learn from each other.
We have the ambition to develop this programme in close collaboration with the local market players, who can become programme partners. This commitment entails that they get the opportunity to contribute to the programme and/or steer the content of the training and benefit from a reduced programme fee.
What is the global structure of the programme and its target audience?
For gaining in-depth understanding of the asset management profession and the specifics of the Luxembourg market, the Executive Programme on Asset Management consists of 2 modules of 3 days. Each module deals with specific aspects of the asset management activity e.g., risk, performance and portfolio management, compliance, fund structures, real assets as well as sustainable investments.
