Financial sector professionals who may not have prior detailed knowledge of the EU framework, capital markets structure, or the related legislative and regulatory processes.
Introduction
This training provides an overview of how the European Union operates as a legal, regulatory and supervisory environment, with a specific focus on its relevance to capital markets and key policy initiatives such as the Capital Markets Union (CMU) and the Savings and Investments Union (SIU).
Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify the main EU institutions and bodies involved in law-making, regulation and supervision
- Understand the hierarchy of EU legal norms and the key stages of the EU legislative procedure
- Explain how EU law impacts Member States, financial markets and market participants
- Describe the EU framework for financial supervision and the role of relevant supervisory authorities
- Recognise the structure, purpose and key actors of EU capital markets
- Understand the objectives and relevance of the Capital Markets Union (CMU) and the Savings and Investments Union (SIU)
